It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the San Joaquin Valley Portuguese Festival is canceled for 2025. We cherish this festival deeply and appreciate its role these past five years in celebrating the Portuguese culture and raising awareness and funds for Race for Autism. This year, we faced multiple challenges leading to this tough decision.
The Carlos Vieira Foundation continues to receive more and more requests for help every year. Just in 2024, we awarded 70% more grants to children with autism in California’s Central Valley. With the growing need in our community and our position as a small, family-run nonprofit, we must refocus our resources on maintaining our programs and other forms of fundraising.
We want to thank everyone who has supported our festival over the years, especially our loyal presenting sponsor, PFSA, the Portuguese Fraternal Society of America. The decision to pause this beloved event was not made lightly. We sincerely hope we have the opportunity to revive it in 2026 with more support from volunteers and sponsors. The 6th Annual San Joaquin Valley Portuguese Festival will include great entertainment throughout the weekend, including a Portuguese parade and a Bodo de Leite (oxcart parade)!
Our Portuguese Parade will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11 AM. The parade will feature a taste of Portugal with folklore groups, philharmonic bands, dignitaries, Portuguese floats, cultural/heritage displays, sponsors, and more. All participants must arrive for line up at 10 AM.
Our Bodo de Leite (oxcart parade) will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 10:30 AM. The bodo de leite will feature farm animals and traditional oxcarts. All participants must arrive for line up at 9:30 AM.

The last day of the Portuguese Festival, we will be holding the San Joaquin Valley Portuguese Bullfight. This professional bloodless bullfight will be held on Sunday, April 21st at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds arena. Come out to support a great cause; Race for Autism. Arena gates open at 2pm, and the bullfight starts at 4pm.

Do you want the chance to win a car or cash prize? Now is your chance! Get your raffle tickets online now for $20 each for your chance to win. All proceeds go directly to helping children with autism in the central valley.
The raffle drawing will be held Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 8 PM after the San Joaquin Valley Portuguese Bloodless Bullfight. Winners will be contacted to claim their prize if not present at the event. A maximum of 5,000 tickets will be sold, so get yours soon!
The drawing winner can choose a vehicle valued at up to $30K. If a minimum of 2,500 tickets are NOT sold, the drawing will revert to a 50/50 raffle. Please review our terms and conditions on the purchase link below.
